Interested in a Career Helping People with Developmental Disabilities?

If you are interested in learning to care for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, consider our Respite Care Training Program. Most positions in this field require experience, and Respite Care is a great place to start a rewarding career helping children or adults with developmental disabilities!

The CISS Respite Care Training Program is a job training program for people who have limited or no experience providing support to individuals with disabilities. Our Level One training program offers free in-person and online classes that are open to the public. Those who successfully complete the training and wish to be considered for employment as a Respite Caregiver at CISS, may be invited to Level Two and matched with a Respite Caregiver Mentor for on-the-job training in a family’s home.

The Respite Care Training Program is currently being offered in East County (Moorpark, Simi Valley, Oak Park, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park).
The program is on hold in the Santa Clara Valley and West Ventura County.  Applications from people living in West County or the Santa Clara Region will be added to the waiting list.

Reliable transportation is required for the training program. Use of transportation services such as Uber, Lyft, or Taxis are not allowed. You are also not allowed to be dropped off and picked up. Do you have reliable transportation?
